VC Bristol Open TT is a Success

Velo Club Bristol Open 10 Mile TT on the U102 Iron Acton 08/04/2018

Having had to cancel two open events on this course last year due to road works, we were delighted that we were finally able to host our annual event on Sunday.  Conditions on the day were dry, with winds of 8/9 mph.  The U102 is an out and back sporting course along a B road.

Jon Gates had the honour of being last man off and he didn’t disappoint, winning the event with a cracking time of 21:39. Nick Livermore came second with a time of 22.21, narrowly pipping third place James Cook by just one second. James finished with a time of 22.22.

We were delighted with the number of female riders, who totalled over 20% of the field.  First female with an impressive time of 24.01 was Elizabeth Bennett, second place Megan Dickerson 24.42 and third place went to Lauren Johnston 25.53.

The Vets competition was based on VTTA standard times which Jon Gates would have won, however we only gave out one prize per person.  First place went to Rick Johnston (-3.30), second Luke Smith (-3.21) and third Mike Cox (-3.05).

The fastest team was Bristol South CC smashing it with a total time of 69.58.

There are some fantastic photos of the event courtesy of Rich Lewton – http://www.richlewtonphotography.co.uk/Photos/2018/VC-Bristol-Open-10-U102/

NEW KIT…the best just got better

After extensive research we have chosen Castelli as our new kit supplier and updated our kit design.

We’ve chosen the Maratona Jersey and Volo Bibshorts.  The Maratona Jersey is sold as a Gran Fonda top but is aero enough for racing members whilst having enough flexibility for general club members. Our suggestion is if you’d like a ‘race fit’ then go down one size. It comes with full front zip, 3 pockets at rear (one with zip closure). As a rule with Castelli it is advisable to go up one size; XS, M, L, XL, 3XL…

Kit will be available at cost to club members; Jersey £63.00 and Bibshorts £75.00. We feel this is very competitive for the quality of Kit that Castelli offer.

The kit artwork design is shown below and is currently being proofed with Castelli. We’re taking orders now: payment on order via club Paypal form here.

Order deadline will be 18.03.18
