Scorpion CS Stage Race

Velo Club entered a team of four for the this 3-stage, single day race based down at Ilton, near Yeovil. The team consisted of; Jason Flooks, Kieran Murphy, Jon Gates and Dave Rutty. Both ‘road’ stages came down to bunch sprints with Jason finishing 4th and Jon 9th in the first stage.
The shorter, second stage circuit race is where Jon laid the foundation for the overall with a beautifully timed sprint to take the win, Kieran was 5th, with Jason involved and Dave narrowly missing the stack-up within the last km.
So with the final TT to go it was still all to play for, again Jon did a great ride to claim the overall win and achieve his 2nd category licence. Kieran continued to show his progress this season with 9th on the stage and 7th overall. Jason unfortunately abandoned after the crash with Dave finishing mid table in the overall.
A fantastic day for the club and congratulations to Jon for the win and gaining his 2nd cat licence!
